He began by repairing shoes for the Met but eventually made the transition to shoemaker. His excellent craftsmanship and easy going personality made him popular among dancers making his shop a popular meeting place. In 1910 Anna Pavlova purchased Capezio pointe shoes for herself and her entire company while on tour in the United States. This endorsement of Anna Pavlova guaranteed Salvatore Capezio’s success as a shoemaker.
